A Lythous™ room: daylight, a sunrise mural, low seating in a circle.
Welcome to Lythous Formerly known as Lighthouse

We beginby seeing you.

You do not need to identify or choose a service, or know which professional you need.
We start with your life, your circumstances, your interests, and who you want to become.

Welcome

How did you get here today?

What brings you here today?

Recognise yourself in any of these?

  • A painted figure standing at ease on a hillside, watching a small sun rise.
    I don’t think anything is wrong.01
  • A painted figure sitting with knees drawn in beneath a dark tangle, one thread of golden light reaching their shoulder.
    Something is wrong. I can’t name it.02
  • A painted figure reaching across a gap toward a glowing doorway on the far hill.
    I know what I need. But, I just can’t get to it.03
  • A painted figure peering around a half-open door with warm light spilling through.
    I’m just curious.04

One of them, none of them, or all four. You do not need a reason to reach out. Curiosity is enough.

Say hello

Five spaces, and a door you can walk through.

Select a space to see what it is for. You are never sent to one. You choose.

*The above plan is a representation and not the actual layout of the physical space.

What happens next

After you say hello.

  1. 01
    Recognition

You reach out, or an Ambassador notices you. Either way, it starts with a person, not a form.

  2. 02
    Engagement

You talk to a Listener, on your terms. In the room, or by phone, text or WhatsApp.

  3. 03
    Navigation

Together you work out what would actually help, and who is the right resource to help you.

  4. 04
    Escalation

If necessary, you are connected with the right person. It could be an Ambassador, a clinician, a psychologist or a psychiatrist.

  5. 05
    Follow-through

We don’t just show you the next door. We stay with you until you get through it.

What we try to understand

Please tell us more about you!

We begin by asking:

We organise our care around the unique individual that you are.

Your life is integrated, not separated into pieces. So the help you get should be the same.

Our operating system

You are a person here, not a case.

CARE is our operating system. Connected, Acknowledged, Respected, Empowered.

ConnectedYou are not working this out on your own.
AcknowledgedSomebody knows you came, and remembers when you come back.
RespectedNobody asks you what is wrong with you.
EmpoweredYou leave knowing what happens next, and who is doing it.

A human-to-human network

Lythous is not a directory, a referral line, or a collection of disconnects. It is a network of people who know how to receive you, introduce you to one another, and remain responsible for the relationship.

A listener is the front door. An ambassador is the navigator. Clinicians, psychologists and psychiatrists are the resources called upon when needed.

FAQs

Common questions you may have.

What if I do not know what to say?

You do not have to know. “I do not really know why I am here” is a fine place to start, and you can say nothing at all for a while.

Will I be judged?

No. Nobody asks you what is wrong with you.

What if it is not serious enough?

There is no bar to clear. Curiosity is enough.

How long does this take?

Come when it suits you. Stay as long as you like.

Is there a form to fill in?

No. It is a conversation, over however long it takes.

Will it be written down?

You decide what you tell us. You can ask at any point what has been written down, and who can see it.

Can I bring someone, or stop?

Bring anyone you like. Stop whenever you want, and come back later.

Would you like to help?

Become an Ambassador.

Some people make contact with the Lythous not because they need something, but because they want to be that person who anybody can walk up to and connect with.

An Ambassador is the first point of human contact. In a Lythous node, in a bookshop, in a coffee shop, on a park bench. You are trained to notice, to listen, and to walk with somebody.

An Ambassador does not have to know what is wrong. They simply refuse to let someone face things alone.

TodayA year from now

One year from now, you will still be the same person. But you may see yourself totally differently.

Understand what you need, recognise the strengths you had overlooked, and feel connected to people and possibilities you could not see before.

A Lythous node does not change who you are. It helps reveal who you can become.

Remember that Lythous is not a place. It is a destination.

Ready when you are.

Message, call, text, or walk in. You do not need to know what to say.

“Hello” is enough.

We see you.We connect you.We stay with you.You become.

Say hello

Whichever is easiest. A person answers, whichever you choose.

You do not need to know what to say.

Get help right now

If you need someone right now, do not hesitate. These lines are free and open now.

What a Lythous Ambassador actually does

They notice

They connect

They stay alongside

What they do not do

An Ambassador does not diagnose, investigate, counsel, or treat.

They do not replace clinicians, counsellors, navigators, or emergency services.

They recognise the limits of their role, respect privacy and consent, and connect the person to the appropriately trained people within Lythous.

An Ambassador does not have to know what is wrong.
They simply refuse to let someone face it alone.

A Listener

A Listener is the first human you reach. A person.

Why it matters

At three in the morning, somebody who is frightened should reach a human being. That is the whole point of it.

Call, text or message Healthcare SMC India on +91 96346 76724. If you are in immediate danger, call 112, or Tele-MANAS on 14416.

Walk into a room

A Lythous node is a room on campus with people in it. You can walk in without an appointment and without telling anyone why.

What is inside

Every node is fitted to the place it is in, so no two are the same.

Online

You found us on a screen. That counts. A message is a real way in, not a lesser one.

Call, text or WhatsApp and you reach exactly the same people you would meet in the room. You can stay online as long as you like, come in later, or never come in at all.

Whatever is easiest today is the right way in.

Someone you know

You do not have to be the one who makes contact. A friend, a classmate, a teacher, a warden, a family member, anybody in your community can start it with you or for you.

Faculty and Ambassadors work together to help people they feel might benefit from Lythous.

A poster or a QR code

If you arrived here from a poster, a billboard or a QR code that said Lighthouse, you are in the right place. Lythous is the current name.
